With a nutritional impact only an Olympic swimmer could love, The Hibernator is a heart-stopping day-starter that clocks in at a whopping 8,000 calories—or four times the FDA's recommended daily allowance. It's the diabolical invention of Mark Winder, the owner of Bear Grills Cafe & Sandwich Bar in the small English town of Congleton.

According to The Daily Mail, the breakfast weighs seven pounds and includes:

  • 8 pieces of bacon
  • 8 sausages
  • 4 hash browns
  • 4 fried eggs
  • a 4-egg cheese omelette
  • 4 waffles
  • 4 pieces of toast
  • 4 pieces of fried bread (why?)
  • 4 pieces of black pudding (if you don't know, you don't want to know)
  • 2 ladles of beans
  • 2 ladles of tomatoes
  • mushrooms
  • fries, and...
  • a 2-pint milkshake.

If that isn't enough, the breakfast is served on a four-foot turkey platter. And if you can't choke it all down, a green bucket is used to clean up the scraps.

The restaurant prohibits anyone under the age of 18 from ordering the Hibernator, and requires patrons to sign a liability waiver if they want to order the meal.

The meal was inspired by the TV show Man vs. Food, and owner Mark Winder says it was designed to draw in a younger crowd. Not too young, though: You must be at least 18 years of age to order the Hibernator.

If anyone does manage to finish the whole meal in under one hour, they'll "win £100, get their name on the Wall of Fame, have the breakfast named after them and also get to add another ingredient to the challenge."

Though 22 brave (foolish?) souls have attempted the challenge, no one has triumphed. That's prompted the restaurant to increase the time limit from its old 30 minute cutoff. But with a price tag of just $25.18, we're sure Winder will have plenty more contestants.
