Smart kitchen startup Anova says that foodies want Wi-Fi connected gadgets. In fact, the company claims there’s enough demand that it has plans to introduce a new smart oven.

Anova is best known for its award-winning Precision Cooker immersion circulator. The device is used for sous vide cooking, but it also includes a Wi-Fi component so users can control it using a smartphone app.

According to Anova, there have been 1.5 million Cooks Started since the Precision Cooker first went on sale. About 1.25 million people used the app in the past 12 months, and 450,000 of those happened in the last three months.

With that in mind, last week the company announced plans for the Anova Precision Oven, a connected countertop oven with precise temperature control and unique abilities to time recipes.

“Because the Precision Oven works by holding food at a low and precise temperature, we can coordinate the delivery of different parts of your meal at the same time, and provide an experience that’s complementary to cooking with your Precision Cooker,” wrote Anova’s Stephen Svajian on the company’s blog.

In addition to programmed recipes controlled through the Anova app, the Precision Oven has options for sous vide, steam cooking, searing, convection baking, and broiling.

There’s a lot of movement in the space: Anova’s competitors will include startups like June and Tovala, in addition to products from existing appliance companies—like Whirlpool’s partnership with Innit, or Bosch’s work with Drop.

There’s no word on when the product will be available, or how much it will cost. But with so many competitors already announcing plans for similar products, we suspect it will ship soon.
